Must-Have Gear for Snowboarding Adventures

Published Jan 25, 2024

When it comes to hitting the slopes and shredding some gnar, having the right snowboarding gear can make all the difference between an epic day and feeling like you're battling the elements. Let's break it down.

First off, you gotta start with the essentials – a quality snowboard. Whether you're into carving up groomed runs or hitting the powder, choosing the right board for your style is key.

I like this board because it's unisex and is flexible in terms of encountering different types of conditions (powder, groomed, etc.,). It's good for carving and the style of ride I like to do. I like that it's matte black and the style is nondescript. Lastly, I like that it's made by a small company that makes quality boards.

Next up, bindings. These are like the unsung heroes of your setup. They connect you to your board, and trust me, comfortable bindings can make your ride feel like butter. Don't skimp on these – your feet will thank you.

I like these because they're lightweight and the rachets are easy to operate and they make me feel locked in. A good all-around binding.

Now, let's talk outerwear. A waterproof and breathable jacket is a must. Nobody likes a soggy day on the mountain. Throw in some pants that can handle the snow spray, and you're golden. Bonus points for bright colors – you'll be the coolest dot on the mountain.

I like this jacket from and bib from Stio.

A helmet is non-negotiable. Safety first, my friend. Goggles are also crucial. Clear vision through all kinds of weather? Yes, please.

For helmets I like Bern for their fun colors and clean design.

Layer up like you're preparing for an arctic expedition. A good thermal base layer will keep you toasty, and you can adjust as needed with a hoodie or fleece. Remember, it's all about that sweet spot between warmth and mobility.

I like these ones from Krimson Klover because they're lightweight, moisture-wicking, and soft against my skin.

Last but not least, the boots. The right pair can make or break your day. Comfort is key, and you want something that gives you control over your board.

I like these boots from Ride because they're comfy and make me feel like a pro.

Chap Stick! Your lips will get dry and cracked, and despite your best efforts to continually lick them, you know good and well that that doesn't work. Stash some in your jacket pocket, and slick it on on the lift.
